Information For Reviewers
REL expects reviewers to provide timely, professional, and unbiased written feedback on the scholarly merits and scientific value of submitted manuscripts.
Reviewers must inform the editor of any well-founded suspicion or knowledge of possible breach of ethical standards by authors. They must alert the editor of a parallel submission of the same manuscript to another journal when aware of such a submission. Reviewers should recognize relevant published works that the authors have not cited. They must notify the editor of substantial similarities between a submitted manuscript and any manuscript published or under consideration for publication elsewhere when aware of such similarities.
Reviewers, who have real or perceived conflicts of interest (or competing interests) in a manuscript submission, are required to disclose the nature and extent of the interest. They must recuse themselves where conflicts of interest (or competing interests) may materially influence peer review.
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not use unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts in any way. The information and ideas presented in submitted manuscripts shall be kept confidential and must not be used for personal gain. Reviewers should not upload any part of a manuscript they are reviewing to artificial intelligence (AI) tools, whether to have AI generate a report or for other purposes.
